Adoption Policies
Stay-A-While wants only the best life possible for our cats and kittens. To ensure that they get responsible loving homes, new guardians are required to agree to the following policies. A legal contract is signed upon adoption agreeing to these policies. Stay-A-While has the right to refuse any adoption based on the information provided during the pre-adoption interview.
- Cats and kittens must be kept indoors 100% of the time.
- Families with children 5 years of age or younger can only adopt cats 6 months of age or older.
- Cats and kittens must not be given as a gift. The person who will have them under his/her care must be present for the adoption.
- Only cats one year of age and younger can be front-paw declawed. No cats or kittens are to be four-paw declawed. Cats must meet safe criteria for being front-paw declawed. This is left up to Stay-A-While's discretion. Cats and kittens must not be declawed during the first 30 days following adoption.
- Kittens must be spayed/neutered as soon as they are five to six (5 - 6) months old.
- Cats and kittens must be provided with the proper and humane care, food, water, shelter and all other necessities.
- Cats and kittens must be provided with the veterinary care and necessary vaccinations, both on a regular basis and when the cat or kitten becomes ill.
- Cats and kittens are never to be used for experimentation or research.
- Cats and kittens are never to be used as a mouser or barn animal.
- Cats and kittens must be given at least 30 days to adjust to his/her new environment.
- A covered carrier is required to transport the cats and kittens from Stay-A-While.
- Cats and kittens must be surrendered only to Stay-A-While if unable to keep him/her.

Adoption Fees
Adult Cats $75.00 donation
- 2 Adult Cats $125.00 donation
- Includes the FeLV/FIV Test, FVRCP Vaccination, and Spay/Neuter.
Kittens $85.00 donation
- 2 Kittens $145 donation
- Includes the FeLV/FIV Test and Initial Vaccination.
- Includes a spay/neuter certificate
Seniors (7 yrs. and older) $50 donation
Declawed cats $85 donation
A donation is given to Stay-A-While Cat Shelter to be applied to housing, care, and placement costs at the shelter. The donation is non-refundable.
Carrier Fees
A covered carrier is required to transport the cats and kittens from Stay-A-While. If you do not own a carrier you can purchase a cardboard or plastic carrier from the shelter.
Cardboard Carrier: $ 6.00
Plastic Carrier: $ 8.00 (small), $10.00 (large)
